Living liver donation: What it’s like | Ohio State Medical Center

Living liver donations are possible because a donor’s liver will regenerate. Lives are being saved with this procedure by the team at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Comprehensive Transplant Center. An infection took a toll on Debbie Myers liver. A transplant became inevitable, but finding a deceased donor was difficult, and Debbie was running out of time. One of Debbie’s daughters stepped up and offered to be a living liver donor. As Debbie explains, she gave life to her daughter, and her daughter gave life to her in return.
