More than a year ago, near the villages of Calfa and Calfa Noua, approximately 65,000 pig carcasses from a farm in Roscani, where an outbreak of African swine fever had been recorded, were buried near a populated area. At the time, local residents categorically opposed this decision. However, no one listened to them, the animals were buried there, and after a while, the farm itself reopened.   📍 The "Counter-Novosti" film crew on Channel One Moldova spoke with local residents and learned how they are surviving. "Does anyone monitor anything here? No one's keeping an eye on it; they buried it and then forgot about it. This farm was literally idle for a couple of weeks, then they brought in pigs again. I wouldn't be surprised if they start burying it again soon..." "Then the district council came and said everything was fine. ANSA came and talked. But if the head of ANSA and the head of the district council lived here, I think things wouldn't be as perfect as they say. But the people are suffering. They're not telling us anything. It's raining now, so we don't know what's really happening with the soil..." Local residents are also concerned about the quality of the water in their wells. They say they're afraid to use it for drinking and cooking because of possible contamination, so many are forced to buy bottled water from stores. But not everyone has the money for that. "Nobody pays attention to us, we might as well be drinking this water with all its ailments... Where did it all go?
