I have finished World 1-8 100% (including the cannons), getting all star coins, all exits, and doing all enemy encounters on the world map. I plan on doing World 9 as well. This was done with no save states and without using the "inventory" items you can use before starting a level. I did, however, use infinite lives/timer. This and Newer Super Mario Bros.
