Local variables are a controversial subject in Forth - and before the ANS Forth standard was introduced, they were not even part of the language. But what if Chuck Moore had wanted to include local variables? How would he have approached the problem? We provide a possible solution - and then use the 4tH preprocessor to make a fully Forth 2012 compliant implementation.
