In our open lecture, we will try to understand why people cannot live without dance and why they dance. We will discuss how dance has changed over the centuries and in response to socio-political situations; compare dances from different eras and continents; learn about Danse Macabre and Ausdruckstanz; and explore how artists, sculptors, photographers, and filmmakers have depicted dance.
