TVE. Antruejos y Mascaradas de León

The Leonese identity, and the diversity of Leonese folk culture, can be seen in one of its most ancestral cultural manifestations: the antruejos and mazcaradas. An intangible heritage that has been the protagonist in RTVE, national TV, which has shared the diversity and beauty of the Leonese antruejos and the mazcaradas across the nation. An audiovisual production - made by RICI Comunicación y Promoción thanks to the Provincial Council of León - which gives an in-depth explanation of the most traditional carnivals in the province of León for more than thirteen minutes. «When light overthrows darkness, the mazcaradas arrive in the province of León. The arrival of the winter solstice awakens ancestral rituals that conclude in the Antruejo; the name this ancestral and symbolic carnival receives in León." This is how this detailed audiovisual production begins, to then dive into all the manifestations that occur in the villages of the province, with its singularities, its rites and symbologies.
