In Edinburgh, one of the largest New Year festivals on the planet unfolds over several days. Hogmanay is said to be even more important than Christmas in Scotland, and it comes with a wealth of traditions that I found utterly fascinating — so I wanted to share them with you in this video. There are many stories, meanings and customs that I couldn’t fully cover in the video, and some of the legends have multiple versions, so what I share here isn’t the whole picture. Even so, I hope this gives you a sense of what a Scottish New Year feels like, and that you enjoy experiencing it with me.
