Pruning Panicle Hydrangeas

It's spring and that means it's time to prune your panicle hydrangeas. Springtime is the perfect time to remove spindly, thin branches and broken stems, while encouraging the development of thick, sturdy branches that will support the lush, conical shaped flower heads panicles are known for. Little Limelight, Pinky Winky, Firelight (Sadly, I don't have a picture of mine in bloom.) -- The list goes on and on for the wide variety of panicle hydrangeas that are available in garden centers and online. There may be a wide variety but they all get pruned the same way. It's all in the branch nodes!
