Even though they are generally not felt, Greeks live in fear of the "Big One." Every summer, forest fires burn tens of thousands of hectares of woodland and homes. In 2007, the Peloponnese experienced its worst fire in the last 50 years. Finally, Greece lacks sufficient water, especially on the islands. They are supplied by boat, but the water is brackish and expensive.
