YARTONG 2024 I A festival of Mountain Horses and Horsemen I Khinga - Muktinath

Yartong is a festival that marks the end of summer and is a celebration to showcase the bond between humans and horses. Also a sign of gratitude for a successful crop yield over the year as winter starts to approach. This festival is held in the Tibetan influenced belts of Nepal like Mustang and Manang. In this century old festival, we people of Baragung community visit the holy Muktinath temple, we exhibit our horses and horse skills, drink, dance and feast. The period also consides with the August full moon hence, celebrated around that time.
