Nine Ironmans and Still Feeling ‘Not Enough’

54 years old. Nine Ironmans. 26 marathons. And still working on feeling enough. In this episode, age group triathlete and palliative care nurse Shannon Wilson joins Mindfuel to explore what it really means to feel like you belong in endurance sport. Shannon reached out to Mindfuel on launch day with a note that caught our attention. An accomplished athlete by any measure, she openly shared her struggle with self-perception, the pressure to keep achieving, and the courage it took to step back from a race this year when life demanded it. This is a conversation for anyone who feels they can and should always be doing more or who has ever crossed a finish line and already started looking at the next mountain. In this episode we cover: Why high-achieving athletes struggle to feel like they have done enough, even after extraordinary accomplishments How to recognize when training is adding to your stress load rather than relieving it The difference between movement as punishment and movement as self-care Practical tools for managing high-functioning anxiety through sport How to know when it is time to de-prioritize a race goal without losing your identity Why masters female athletes deserve more visibility and support in endurance sport What Shannon would tell anyone who thinks they are too old or too inexperienced to start Is there a topic Shannon touched on that you'd like to go deeper on?
