Greetings! You are the main character of your own story. There are characters more powerful, yes. There are villians too. Your story is important. In the comic book world, there are characters that are in the "background" whose struggles and strengths can motivate a HERO to action. It's not a good thing to be the Villian of someone's story. As for the Supergirl Movie; I believe it's better if the adaptation is different than the source material. You have two hours to tell a story, so you have to make cuts. Why introduce characters and backstories that don't move the main story to a satisfactory end. Liberties and creative vision differ and that's fine. The Hero's Journey remains.
