Last time, when we arrived in Bali, our dream destination, we were instantly thrilled by the tropical air and nature, and thought, "Maybe we could live here for the second half of our lives." However, after spending a few days in Ubud, Bali, we realized that a place that excites you as a tourist is different from a place where you can actually live as a couple. Ubud is a wonderful place. We would like to come back again. But it wasn't the right place for us to live long-term. ⸻ We are a couple in our 40s who achieved FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) and lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a year and a half. Now, we are traveling abroad as a couple, searching for a place where we can live peacefully in the second half of our lives. This time, we'll have an honest discussion as a couple about whether Ubud, Bali, is truly a place we can live. The scenery and atmosphere are truly amazing. The rice terraces, Balinese-style buildings, jungle streets, and the kindness of the local people deeply moved us. During our walk, we made friends with locals, were shown inside Balinese homes, and even participated in local festivals—truly invaluable experiences. On the other hand, from a living perspective, there were also practical challenges such as the heat, humidity, food, traffic jams, and exhaust fumes. Furthermore, this time we tried staying in a cheap guesthouse costing around 1,500 yen per night. The result was… A place you love and a place you can live are different. A place where you can live cheaply and a place where you can live peacefully are also different. We're being completely honest with each other in this video. This channel follows a couple in their 40s who quit their jobs and are traveling the world searching for a place where they can live peacefully.
