As a child, I dreamed of my own Kirov Airship from the cult Red Alert. I grew up, and I still don’t have a Kirov. Today I will correct this injustice and build my own airship. The story is long, so in the first part I will tell you about a homemade stabilizer for the camera, assembling a gondola with engines, a radio remote control and welding a shell from film. I will estimate the mass of the payload: camera, suspension, control Arduino, batteries, transceiver, engines, servos and a breadboard on which all this will be soldered. It turns out that the airship should lift about 350 grams. I'll make a 40% reserve, in case I forgot something. Therefore, the airship should lift 500 grams. The airship will be semi-rigid. This means that the gas will be pumped into one cylinder made of soft material. The shell itself will be held on a frame made of carbon rods. The frame will be able to hang the camera and engines. The weight of such a design will not be the smallest, but it will be convenient. I did not want to use polypropylene film because of the difficulty of welding it, but it seems that this is the only option to make the cylinder compact, lightweight and airtight. For onboard electronics, I will take Iskra Nano Pro, a 433 MHz transceiver, a couple of batteries and a breadboard. Two servos will turn the engines with propellers. This way you can change the thrust vector - the airship will rise and fall. I didn't install servos for turning left and right, you can turn by alternating the speed of the propellers. Today I managed to make a sealed shell from a very thin film and fully working electronics. In the second part of the story about the airship, I will assemble the frame, hang up all the electronics, pump the shell with helium and try to take off! Wait for the continuation next Friday.
