Video Documentary of Comprehensive overview of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka

The Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka was formally established on 15 January 1982, under Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 177/7, issued by His Excellency President J. R. Jayewardene. From that date onwards, for a period of thirteen (13) years, the institution functioned as four affiliated educational institutes. Subsequently, during the presidency of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the Honorable Minister of Education, Richard Pathirana, presented the Amendment Act No. 37 of 1995 to Parliament, through which the previously existing affiliated institutions were reorganized and integrated into a single institution known as the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, on 20 February 1997, the university was established at its present location at Pitipana, Homagama.
