Disciple Rules (弟子規), roughly translated as "Standards for children and students". This is not a lofty philosophy, but a specific, detailed practical handbook, teaching us how to behave from the smallest things in daily life. This work was composed by layman Ly Duc Tu (李毓秀) who lived at the end of the Qing Dynasty, China. Based on the thoughts and teachings of Confucius in the book "Lun Yu", he systematized those principles into a set of rules that are easy to understand, easy to remember, easy to practice for everyone, especially children. ________________________________________ The core content of Disciple Rules is built around 7 key chapters, which is also the roadmap that we will explore together: 1. Chapter 1: Filial piety (孝) - Filial piety to parents: The foundation of all virtues. 2. Chapter 2: Respect (弟) - Respect for elders and elders: Expanding love in the family. 3. Chapter 3: Care (謹) - Careful in words and actions: Cultivating an independent and trustworthy personality. 4. Chapter 4: Trust (信) - Keeping trust: Building trust to stand firm in society. 5. Chapter 5: Phiem Ai Chung (汎愛眾) - Loving widely: Expanding the heart to everyone. 6. Chapter 6: Relatives (親仁) - Being close to virtuous people: Choosing a good environment and friends to learn from. 7. Chapter 7: Du Luc Hoc Van (餘力學文) - When you have the strength, study literature: Harmoniously combining morality and knowledge. ________________________________________ Why do we, people living in the 21st century, need to learn Disciple Rules? Because the more modern society becomes, the more easily people are caught up in the whirlwind of making a living, of complicated relationships, and sometimes, we forget the most basic principles to be a real HUMAN. Disciple Rules is the "moral compass", helping us: • Adjust our own behavior. • Plant seeds of goodness in our souls. • Find inner peace and order.
