Jorge Luis Ponce, director of the Marina Deniz Military Academy, and Estrellita Mora Díaz, a member of the teaching staff, were arrested this past weekend in connection with the femicide of Dafne Zapata, a 13-year-old girl murdered on July 17, 2025, during a summer program. Dana Yanina's family maintains her innocence and asserts that she was also a victim of systematic abuse by Estrellita Mora. The judge ordered that details of the femicide hearing not be released to avoid hindering the investigation.
