Both Guinier and hooks were intellectual giants in their respective fields, shifting paradigms for generations to follow. They provided ways to think of Black women: in power, in mentorship, and in community with one another. This symposium will provide attendees an opportunity to learn about these remarkable women, their bodies of work and their contributions to society, from scholars who directly worked with, taught alongside and learned from them. By continuing to learn about their contributions to the canon and to society in general, we can keep their legacies alive for generations to come. This symposium will be offered both in person and virtually.
