INCREDIBLE Capital Plane Spotting at Washington (DCA/KDCA)

Welcome to one of the coolest airports in America - Washington National! Washington National located on the Potomac River is right next to downtown Washington D.C which is some of the most. restricted airspace in the county. When runway 19 is in use, arriving aircraft must follow the river on the approach, this is known as the river visual. These arrivals pass some of the U.S's most important institutions like the Pentagon, White House and National Mall. With all these restrictions in place, plus excellent views of iconic landmarks - this is an excellent airport for plane spotting! Despite Dulles being built to relieve traffic at National and become Washington's new international airport, National remains as the busiest airport in the Greater Washington area and is served exclusively by American carriers as well as Air Canada. The airport has a 1,250sm perimeter rule with only 40 slot exceptions, and aside from Canada (which benefits from pre-clearance) the airport is essentially a domestic hub.
