The Oscar Goes To...A Beautiful Mind
For those wondering why we are starting this series over, please continue reading. When I first began this channel, my goal was to review ever single film to win Best Picture at the Oscars. I wanted to create funny skits before and after the reviews, which typically involved my friends and family as characters. Everyone was doing it as a favor to me, and as such, if they ever didn't want to continue, I would be accepting of those choices. As our lives have continued to get busier and busier, and since Melinda and I have moved further away from them, it no longer became possible to continue the skit format anymore. Not only that, but going back to my older videos, it's apparent that my focus was more on the skits than the actual review itself. It was unfocused, and didn't translate into what I truly wanted to do, which was open conversations surrounding these films and give our actual take on what we feel worked for each one and what didn't. Don't get me wrong, I love the skits we came up with and still find joy in that aspect, but there's no denying the reviews themselves were not good. That brings us to this reboot series, where we focus solely on the review of the film itself. I know many will be turned away from the lack of humor, but as I also wanted these to be taken seriously, this is how they will continue moving forward. I hope everyone gives it a chance, and it opens up discussions into why each of these films won Best Picture. Without further ado, what follows next is the original post from that first review of Annie Hall: Special thanks to Ana Erdman for recommending our premier review of Annie Hall. This one is for you! Below you'll find a quick synopsis of A Beautiful Mind as well as a list of all its nominations, wins, losses, and who it was up against. Synopsis: A human drama inspired by events in the life of John Forbes Nash Jr., and in part based on the biography "A Beautiful Mind" by Sylvia Nasar. From the heights of notoriety to the depths of depravity, John Forbes Nash Jr. experienced it all. A mathematical genius, he made an astonishing discovery early in his career and stood on the brink of international acclaim.
