I studied Japanese for 15+ years... I have regrets

I studied Japanese for over half my life… and I’m still not fluent. I started learning Japanese at 11 because I was obsessed with J-pop idols, idol blogs, lyrics, and Japanese internet culture. Now I’m 27, working as a flight attendant, and studying for the Japanese speaker test for my airline. In this video, I talk about the biggest mistakes I made while learning Japanese: relying too much on passive input, focusing too much on the JLPT, avoiding speaking practice, ignoring keigo, underestimating shadowing, and choosing intensity over consistency. This is for anyone studying Japanese who can understand more than they can say, freezes when speaking, or feels embarrassed making mistakes. Language learning is humbling, but I’m learning to microdose cringe and keep going anyway. 無理しないでね。これからも一緒に頑張りましょう。 Thanks for being here ♡ Twitter: @triplegeminii
