The route passes through Bukit Batok Road, Phoenix LRT Station, Woodlands Road, Kranji MRT Station, Woodlands CIQ and Sultan Iskandar CIQ. The route is one of three cross-border services operated by SBS Transit, alongside Service 170 and 170X. Bus Service 160 is a cross-border route connecting Jurong East, Bukit Panjang and Kranji MRT to JB Sentral via the Causeway. The route plies long stretches of Bukit Batok Road and Woodlands Road, providing fast connections between the residential towns of Jurong East, Bukit Panjang and Woodlands Centre. Due to varying traffic conditions at the Causeway, travel times and waiting times may increase significantly when jams occur. After 23:00 to 00:00 daily, buses departing Jurong Town Hall Interchange will terminate at JB Sentral Bus Terminal along Jalan Jim Quee. Cross-Border Procedures At each checkpoint, passengers have to alight and clear customs before boarding the bus again. When crossing the causeway between Woodlands Checkpoint and Johor Bahru Checkpoint in either direction, commuters may board any Singapore Public Bus (either 160, 170 , 170X or 950). However, when leaving from a checkpoint, commuters must re-board Service 160 after clearing customs if they wish to continue their journey and not constitute a transfer. Tapping out from the bus at a checkpoint will suspend a journey and allow the resumption of a journey afterwards. Cash paying passengers should retain their ticket as proof or payment, and produce it when re-boarding buses at checkpoints. Route Limitations Buses deployed on cross-border routes must be registered with the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), also known as the Land Public Transport Agency (Malaysia). In accordance with Malaysian regulations, buses must carry relevant documents, be fitted with a third brake light at the rear, and attached with Malaysian stickers dictating the legal speed limit. Currently, several SBS Transit Mercedes-Benz Citaro & MAN A22 buses are registered for cross-border operations. Buses operating on Services 160A or the Service 160 special departures from Bukit Batok Road to Jurong East do not need to be SPAD-Registered as they do not cross the border into Malaysia.
