East Bay to Silicon Valley Railfanning! (Cotton Belt UP, Leased Caltrain F40 & BART Action!) 🚆🔥

Join me for a full day of railfanning and transit fanning across Silicon Valley! 🚆🚌 Big shoutout to @Rai‪@Railfan-uf9mw‬ hanging out and spotting with me at San Jose Diridon! We kicked off the day at Fruitvale BART Station, catching a passing Capitol Corridor train and a few BART action at Fruitvale station before hopping on BART toward Berryessa. On the way down, we passed the Hayward Yard packed with trains, and caught a Union Pacific local led by a rare Cotton Belt locomotive working the yard near Warm Springs/South Fremont! After that, we headed into Silicon Valley for some serious train and bus action at Santa Clara and San Jose Diridon! The ultimate highlight of the day was catching a leased Caltrain F40PH locomotive leading a Capitol Corridor train under its own power! Seeing a Caltrain F40 on part of its old home line is an awesome throwback to when Amtrak ran powered F40s, and seeing it pull Amtrak California bi-levels gives off major classic Caltrain galley car vibes. We also caught an ACE train departing Diridon, and got my first time ever seeing 2-car VTA light rail consists in person!
