Doctor: MJ was in a 'never-never land' of meds
Dr. Steven Shafer testified that Michael Jackson had such complex drug problems that he was in uncharted waters medically, calling it a "pharmacological never-never land."Dr. Conrad Murray told LAPD detectives that he thought Jackson was possibly addicted to painkillers, and he was also trying to wean Jackson off of the anesthetic propofol. Dr. Shafer testified that Jackson's unique combination of problems would have been a challenge for any doctor to treat, because not enough research exists on the effects of propofol withdrawal.
