The electrical diagram is the nervous system of the car. The signals to turn equipment on and off travel through the wires. But how do you identify each wire among so many colors in this vast amount of wires? For this, there is the electrical diagram, which describes in an organized way all the wires from their starting point to their arrival at the component that they will supply. To demonstrate this, I chose the electrical diagram of the Beetle because it is the most concise one I know of, and yet it complies with all traffic regulations for normal driving in Brazil. The first thing to do when analyzing the electrical diagram is to try to situate yourself in the whole, understanding where the main things are. After that, go to the main branch part, the fuse box. From there, all the power supplies go to the system controls, so it is a good reference point. Basically, a positive signal enters, passes through the fuse and goes to the consumer component. If there is an overload or short circuit, the fuse will blow. The electrical diagram can be a great ally in finding a fault in the car, as we don't always know off the top of our heads where all the wires are going in the car.
