How’d we end up uninsured during a hurricane? That’s a question we asked ourselves many times before, during and after Irma had her way with our boat. Insuring a boat causes many of us to stumble, especially when you’re relatively new to the lifestyle. Add in the fact that you’re a liveaboard or cruiser, and things get even more complicated. We’ve had a few insurance missteps along our boat living journey. We have been very fortunate by not needing to file a claim, but if a situation came up where we needed to, things could’ve gotten ugly very fast.
