A Perfect Summer Day on Lake Como | Renovating Our Italian Villa & Swimming with Swans

Some days aren’t about rushing to the next milestone… they’re about slowing down and appreciating the life you’re building. After several exhausting days of renovation, we finally allowed ourselves a slow summer morning. Breakfast in the garden, sunshine filtering through the trees, and that wonderful feeling that time moves just a little slower here on Lake Como. Of course, we couldn’t stay away from the renovation for too long! I returned to the third-floor salon where the walls are slowly transforming with fresh traditional rendering, and today I made one of the biggest steps forward so far. Every finished section brings this beautiful old villa one step closer to life again. Later, my mum and I wandered down to the lake, where we met an incredible family of swans with eight beautiful cygnets. Somehow every single one has survived, and seeing them glide across the water together was simply magical. We even ended up swimming alongside the swans, creating one of those unexpected summer memories we’ll never forget. It’s one of those quiet episodes filled with sunshine, renovation, nature, and everything we love about living at our old Italian villa.
