The Roland TR-1000 brings classic drum machine sounds back into a modern performance and production concept. In this demo, Roland product specialist PJ shows how the new drum machine combines analog 808 and 909 sounds, ACB modeling, sampling, and the Morphader. The focus is initially on the analog sounds of the 808 and 909, which, according to Roland, are featured in one of the manufacturer's analog drum machines for the first time in a long time. In addition, there are digital ACB versions of these classics, offering extra sound parameters and going beyond the original capabilities of the historical instruments. The expanded editing options are particularly exciting: The 808 kick can be pitched, while the 909 rimshot can be significantly further manipulated with additional parameters such as layer editing, delay, tuning, noise, and frequency modulation. This allows a familiar classic sound to be quickly transformed into something entirely new. Besides analog and digital drum sounds, the demo also showcases the TR-1000's sample workflow. A sample is split into individual slices using Auto Slice, then played in Slice Mode and recorded directly into a pattern via Instant Record. This makes the TR-1000 suitable not only for classic drum patterns but also for creative sample-based performances. Another key feature is the Morphader. It allows multiple assigned parameters to be moved simultaneously, enabling dynamic changes to sounds and patterns live.
