Walk Away Renee (Left Banke cover) - The Thorns with Steve Martin Caro

Many artists have recorded "Walk Away Renee"... Linda Ronstadt, The Four Tops, Eric Carmen, to name a few. But no one has ever recaptured the melancholy of the Left Banke's recording. And Steve Martin Caro's lead vocal is unmatched in pathos. We did our best to lovingly recreate the original song with real strings, etc. We used the same type of technology that the Beatles used on "Now & Then". The story was, Michael Brown had a crush on bass player Tom Finn's girlfriend, Renee Fladen. She was in the control room when they recorded the song and Michael Brown said "My hands were shaking when I tried to play, because she was right there in the control room ... There was no way I could do it with her around, so I came back and did it later."
