We Came Back to THIS… 🇵🇭
#filipina #philippines #expatlife After 4 weeks of international travel… we came back to MASSIVE progress on our Philippines mountain home 🇵🇭 In this Mountain Construction Update, we finally return to our property in the mountains of Bukidnon after one of the wildest travel stretches we’ve ever had. Rob flew back to the United States for two weeks for a wedding… then Chrissy and I reunited in Taiwan before traveling through Jeju Island South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. One of the highlights of the entire trip was staying at the incredible Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, where Chrissy’s future brother-in-law surprised her sister with a proposal on the balcony of a $1,500/night suite overlooking the city skyline. But while we were gone… construction in the mountains kept moving. And when we returned home to San Vicente, Baungon, Bukidnon, we got to see an entire month of progress all at once. Our main mountain home has now entered the “finishing phase” of construction — the stage where progress becomes less dramatic visually, but far more expensive and labor intensive. Over the last several weeks the crew completed large portions of the two-stage cement rendering process, skim coating, electrical line installation inside the concrete walls, wall finishing, cement roof work on the storage structure, and major prep work for flooring, ceilings, fixtures, and appliances. The walls are now beginning to look smooth, finished, and like a real home instead of raw construction. At the same time, next door, Chrissy’s sister and her fiancé’s new architect-designed brick home absolutely exploded with progress. What was recently just a concrete pad has now risen into a full structure with brick walls nearly ready for roofing. Additional land has also been purchased, the dirty kitchen continues progressing, furniture has started arriving at the mountain, and the overall vision for this property is finally starting to come together. One thing we talk honestly about in this video is the financial reality of building in the Philippines while also trying to live life. We made the decision to build this mountain project entirely out of cash flow instead of debt. Between our month-long Asia trip, the recent Boracay getaway, and roughly $8,000 USD in travel expenses, we intentionally slowed major purchases like appliances, flooring, and fixtures while continuing labor-intensive structural finishing work. So while you may not see giant new walls appearing on our home… you ARE seeing the transition from construction site to actual livable mountain house. This video also gives a real look at: • Building a house in the Philippines with cash flow • Cement rendering and skim coating in the Philippines • Brick home construction in Bukidnon • Mountain living near Cagayan de Oro • Expat life in the Philippines • Retirement construction projects • Rural Philippines infrastructure and labor • Real-world building costs and priorities • The emotional reality of balancing travel, family, and construction For many people watching this channel, this mountain project represents more than just a house. It represents freedom. A second act. A quieter life. And maybe even the possibility that it’s not too late to build something meaningful. #Philippines #ExpatLife #MountainHouse #PhilippinesConstruction #Bukidnon #CagayanDeOro #Retirement #PhilippinesLiving #Expat #HouseConstruction Thinking about retiring, dating, or starting a new life in the Philippines?
