Eine Gänsefamilie zieht um - Tiernotruf #305

An Egyptian goose had been nesting in a flower box on the third floor of a building directly adjacent to a busy street in Düsseldorf. The problem, however, wasn't the height of the nest, as Egyptian geese almost always nest at high altitudes, but rather the traffic the family would have had to walk through after the chicks hatched. I quickly built a small fence to prevent the chicks from leaving the nest. The nesting site was monitored 24/7 with a mobile phone camera. When the baby geese finally saw the light of day, all that was left to do was catch the parents and bring the whole family to the nearest body of water. Sounds simple, but it was extremely time-consuming. Oh, and in case anyone counts the eggs at the beginning of the video and then the chicks: There were eleven eggs, but only 10 chicks. I can't say what happened to that one egg in the meantime. But no chick was forgotten. --- #everylifeisprecious Donation account: Tiernotruf e.V.
