GA to Ultralight Conversion - What Changes?
GA to Ultralight Conversion - What Changes? This video is a guide only, based on my own experience moving between general aviation aircraft and recreational ultralights. For GA pilots, ultralight flying can feel familiar in some ways, but very different in others. The aircraft are lighter, more responsive, more affected by wind and turbulence, and they ask the pilot to stay ahead of energy, attitude and weather in a slightly different way. In this video I look at some of the main things that change when stepping from GA into ultralight or recreational aircraft, including handling, performance, circuit work, cockpit feel, decision-making and the general mindset needed to enjoy this type of flying safely. Ultralight flying is not a step down from GA. It is simply a different kind of flying, and for many pilots, it brings back the pure enjoyment of being in the air. Always seek proper instruction and follow the requirements of your aviation authority, instructor and aircraft operating handbook.
