8+ miles with 4 kids 7 years old and under

We decided last second to do an 8 plus mile hike with our four young kids. They are seven, six, four and one. I decided to use a few different options including a Kelty Journey PerfectFit Kid Carrier (https://app.rockporch.com/prdlink/x8c... - This is an affiliate link) and ‪@trailmagik‬ (https://trailmagik.com/discount/CASSI... use code CASSIDYE for 10% off if it is something you are interested in! I really love using the trail magik with hiking kid carriers or backpacking backpacks to allow some versatility In how I carry keeping it lightweight and simple when you want to pack as little as possible! Even if I only had one child and was hiking or backpacking with a structured hiking Kid Carrier, I would still get this for the versatility and ease for nursing on the go. If I am going to use this with a baby, I wait until they are sitting independently and it is being used as more of an assisted carry versus a true carrier until they are a bit older and closer to walking. My husband and I also used the Sestrice One Plus (https://www.sestrice.com/?ref=cas affiliate link) which is a well designed toddler carrier that is quite comfortable on both of our bodies. Even with older kids, I like having an option to carry them out if they need arises a little more easily. Sometimes when you're out in the middle of nowhere things happen and I like to be able to have a way to support their body if needed. whether that's a twisted ankle, etc. It's also great for those older toddlers or younger kids who just need a break here and there. I did give the Trail tether a shout out because it's something I use all the time, from on the trail to the house, it's so handy!! (https://trailtether.com/products/trai... affiliate link) My 6th and 7-year-old did they hike in its entirety by themselves. My son who is four did a little over half. choosing to not bring a raincoat was not a good idea on my part. thankfully we had hand warmers and other options. I also had a large garbage bag in the pack that I had forgotten about and it could have easily been used to keep me dryer if needed. Good reminder on a y2 pack layers and just put those long wool layers on in the Pacific Northwest when it is cold and there is a potential for rain or surprise waterfalls. #babycarrier #babywearing #hiking #hikingwithkids
