The mentor learned about wasabi cultivation in the newspaper and decided to become a farmer. After learning from a former farmer for several years, he now cultivates wasabi in a 150-pyeong (approximately 490 square meters) greenhouse. Wasabi is said to be a difficult crop to grow, prone to disease. The mentor cultivates it by building a multi-tiered greenhouse and pumping groundwater from above to allow the water to flow downward. He also uses river gravel as soil, which prevents water from pooling and ensures excellent drainage. He also pumps the water back up and reuses it.
