A new way to explore Great Britain's mining heritage is now available 🔍

We’ve launched a digital resource giving access to thousands of historical coal mining plans, developed in partnership with the British Geological Survey. For the first time, these original records can be searched, viewed and explored from anywhere, helping people reconnect with the mining legacy beneath their communities and understand how past generations shaped the landscape we see today. From former mining families to local history groups, this opens up a unique part of our shared history to everyone.
