We Had NO IDEA Baja California Was Like THIS! | Van Life in Mexico
THIS is Baja?! We thought we knew what to expect… we were wrong. This part of North Baja, Mexico surprised us. In this video, we travel through Ensenada, Valle De Guadalupe, San Felipe, Bahía de los Ángeles, and La Gringa, experiencing a side of Northern Baja we honestly didn’t know existed. We start in Ensenada, walking the port, exploring the city, and asking a local waitress the important question: what’s the most popular taco in Mexico? Known as Mexico’s wine country, Valle de Guadalupe produces over 70% of the country’s wine, a fact that completely changed how we see Baja. What we expected to be a quick stop turned into a full experience of vineyards, tastings, and a slower pace that felt worlds away from the road. From there, we head east toward San Felipe, where we had to decide how to choose a campground when options, prices, and amenities didn’t line up the way we expected. But nothing prepared us for what came next. In Bahia de los Angeles, we joined a boat trip where we saw dolphins, whales, and had one of the most unforgettable moments of our journey so far, swimming with a whale shark - off season! We end the episode with our first night of free beach camping at La Gringa, a raw, quiet, and beautiful place that reminded us why we chose van life in the first place. This isn’t a guide. It’s not a highlight reel. It’s a real van life journey through Baja Norte, the decisions, the surprises, and the moments that made us stop and say: THIS is Baja?!
