మనోరమ’ ఈ కథ ఒక మనిషి కలలూ–వాస్తవాల మధ్య చిక్కుకున్న మనస్థితిని గాఢంగా ఆవిష్కరిస్తుంది.

‘Manorama’ This story deeply reveals the state of mind of a man caught between dreams and reality. The protagonist is Raghu. He gets a job as a junior lecturer in Hanumakonda and comes to start a new life. There he unexpectedly encounters his old friend Mohan. Mohan – nicknamed for laughter, fun, and innocence during his college days. He lags behind in studies but is full of dreams in his mind. Mohan, who thought that love was everything in life, marries a girl named Aruna under the pressure of his elders. But he is not happy in that marriage. His impatience with his wife and his disdain for life increase. Drinking and quarrels begin. Meanwhile, Mohan’s life suddenly takes another turn. He says that he has seen a beautiful girl. He believes that she smiled at him, waved at him, and called him. He thinks that this woman is “Manorama” who will change his life. He searches the whole town for her. No matter how much his friend Raghu tells him, he won't admit that it's an illusion. One day, Mohan receives a letter. It's a letter written under the name 'Manorama'. The letter says – “If you really love me, you should recognize me. Come to Sridevi Theater on the 16th of this month at 6 pm.” The letter completely draws Mohan into its world. He believes that the girl is real and has been waiting for him for ages. The 16th arrives. Mohan waits anxiously at the theater. But six hours pass. No one comes. He looks for 'Manorama' in every woman who comes. In the end, his expectations remain empty. This story is a deeply psychological story that tells how the illusions, loneliness, and dissatisfaction that grow in the name of love can push a person into deep mental darkness. Is 'Manorama' really a person? Or is it a figment of Mohan's imagination? The story leaves the reader with the question.
