P29 wreck Malta

The P29 is an intentionally scuttled East German minesweeper-turned-patrol-boat located 150 meters offshore in Ċirkewwa, Malta. Sitting upright at 34 meters with the highest point at 12 meters, it requires an Advanced Open Water certification, making it a popular dive site. Original Vessel: Kondor I-class minesweeper built in 1969. Scuttled: August 14, 2007. Length: 52 meters. Max Depth: 34 to 38 meters. Certification Level: SSI Advanced Open Water or equivalent. Diving the WreckThe Route: The dive usually begins at "Susie's Pool" in Ċirkewwa. You swim across a seagrass bed to reach the wreck. Features: The ship sits completely upright on a sandy bottom, allowing divers to easily view the intact bow, bridge, and deck-mounted machine gun. Penetration: Experienced divers with Wreck Diver certifications can explore the engine room and interior.
