Guys, this could be helpful! I changed the oil and oil filter on my Volkswagen Transporter T4 1.9 diesel over the weekend. Before heading into town, I stopped on the way and the oil pressure light started blinking, like an emergency light. I immediately stopped and turned off the 1.9 TD engine. The oil level was normal, there were no leaks, and the filter was intact and dry. So, I figured it was the oil filter, a defect, or something else. I was parked on the highway in the cold winter, so I had to call my dad to bring it. I installed a new filter element, but the problem persisted: the oil pressure light kept blinking and that was it. I figured it was the sensors (one on the right side of the cylinder head, the other on the oil filter flange). Luckily, I still had them on the old engine. I replaced them, and the same thing happened: the oil pressure was blinking. Then the battery died, and the starter stopped turning. So, what kind of day is this? I put the battery on charge and started thinking, putting all these facts together, while inspecting the wiring to the alternator. Further inspection revealed that a connector had popped out of the alternator—two thin wires connected to the brushes. The connector had simply popped out, but was attached to the alternator, so it was difficult to notice visually. I plugged it back in until it clicked, charged the battery, started the turbodiesel, and the light stopped flashing, as if nothing had happened. The moral of the story is, if your brushes are worn out or these wires are broken, the charging light on the dashboard won't come on! The only thing I noticed in this situation is that when I turn the ignition on, the charging light on the dashboard doesn't come on at all, and when I start the Volkswagen Transporter T4, the oil pressure light flashes! #VOLKSWAGEN #TRANSPORTER #T4
