Birmingham City FC Reveal £1.2 BILLION Powerhouse Stadium — The Boldest Project in English Football

Birmingham City have officially revealed plans for the Powerhouse Stadium, a bold 62,000-seat football coliseum inspired by the city’s industrial identity. Announced on November 20th, 2025 at Digbeth Loc, the project features twelve iconic brick chimneys, a fully retractable roof, movable pitch, and cutting-edge acoustics designed to create one of the most intense atmospheres in world football. Led by chairman Tom Wagner with architects Thomas Heatherwick and David Manica, the stadium will sit at the former Birmingham Wheels site and anchor the massive 135-acre Birmingham Sports Quarter—complete with an elite training centre, indoor arena, secondary stadium, hotels, residential districts, and community spaces. The target opening is the start of the 2030–2031 football season. The stadium alone carries an estimated cost of £1.2 billion, while the full Sports Quarter is projected to cost between £2.5 billion and £3.5 billion. :::::::::::::::::::: Chapters 00:00 – Introduction 01:16 – The Iconic Chimney Design and Engineering 02:36 – Inside the Stadium 04:32 – Timeline, Cost, and Public Reaction :::::::::::::::::::: Check other future stadium projects    • Future Stadiums   :::::::::::::::::::: Want a football manager game that’s more than just fun?
