The 2026 Mercedes GLA 180 is the entry-level petrol version of Mercedes-Benz's compact luxury SUV, competing with the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40 by offering genuine Mercedes cabin quality at the lowest price point in the GLA range. Powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 134 HP and 170 lb-ft of torque, the GLA 180 sends power to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It is the slowest GLA, but it is bought for how it presents itself rather than outright pace. Key strengths include a premium-feeling cabin with twin 10.25-inch displays and 64-color ambient lighting, sharp AMG Line exterior styling, and strong standard equipment. The main trade-off is boot space: at 435 liters (15.4 cubic feet) it trails the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40, though the square shape and low load lip keep it usable for a small family.
