O que é Melting Pot?
Originally a metaphor about a melting pot in which diverse elements merge, resulting in something new, different from its constituent parts. An American concept, created to positively affirm American identity as distinct from its nation of origin, Great Britain, the Melting Pot has a more complete and natural counterpart in Luso-Brazilian interculturality, with its remote Roman roots, which explains why the fusion was easier in Brazil than in the United States. The idea is good, but it admits counterpoints, and in this admission there are divergences of thought between Régis Antônio Coimbra and Aurélio Schommer, who extensively debate the term and its context here.
