Hokkaido Japan Backpacking: 3-Day Autumn Hiking Adventure at Daisetsuzan's Kurodake(9/2024)

We embarked on a 3-day, 2-night backpacking adventure in Daisetsuzan, using Kurodake as our base camp. We hiked to Hokuchin Dake and Pippu Dake, witnessing rare phenomena like the Sun Pillar, a stunning sunrise, the Brocken specter, a double rainbow, and the breathtaking night sky. We were also treated to the vibrant autumn colors and sightings of wildlife, the Ezo chipmunk. Please Note) The 2024 operating season for the Kurodake Stone Hut in Daisetsuzan has ended as of the end of September. After this period, it can still be used as an emergency shelter, but please note that there are no restroom facilities. Be sure to bring a portable toilet when entering the mountains. Feeding wild animals is strictly prohibited. Please make sure not to engage in such behavior.
