VA-11 HALL-A, or Valhalla, is a visual novel released in 2016. The action takes place in Glitch City, a city ruled by gigacorporations and talking corgis ready to mark the most unexpected places. Every city resident is implanted with nanomachines that are constantly connected to security systems, and if you do anything that violates the laws established by the corrupt government, white knights will come for your soul. As you can imagine, ubiquitous surveillance and localized unrest are commonplace on the streets of Glitch City, where residents survive as best they can. Some try to barricade themselves high up in skyscrapers, thinking it will save them from the occasional crazy rocker with a nuclear weapon, some resort to lawlessness, and some give in and simply go with the flow, finding the answer to their problems. All your questions are somewhere at the bottom of the glass. The purest manifestation of the High Tech - Low Life concept, but hey, there are some advantages to this setting. For example, you can, like Ryan Gosling, stare at a giant hologram and then, like any normal guy, die in a snowstorm.
