Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) - Practical Experimentation
We created a video going over the theory and history of bipolar junction transistors, or BJTs, and in this video, Josh interacts with an actual NPN BJT using a multimeter in conjunction with @DigilentInc 's Discovery 3 and Waveform software. As this wasn't scripted, Josh does mix his words up sometimes, particularly "Saturation" and "Active" - sorry! We should probably have another engineer in the room when Josh shoots these videos to stop him when he says stupid things but it's already awkward enough in there. Anyway! Despite the misspeaks, this is a good overview of how a BJT reacts in real life when you keep the collector-emitter voltage constant and start increasing the base voltage. Hopefully, this helps you get a better intuitive feel for how BJTs work in real life, supporting the things you've learned about their theory. 0:00 Introduction 0:50 Review of the Transistor Circuit 2:10 Setting up Waveforms 2:46 Cut-off Region 3:28 Active Region 6:02 Saturation Region 8:06 Summary and review of the 3 Regions 9:57 Did you know CircuitBread does more than lessons?
