Dispatches: Elephants | Myanmar — Smithsonian Magazine Assignment EP. 2

I was in the jungles of Myanmar on assignment for Smithsonian Magazine, photographing Asian elephants for a cover story on conservation and the bond between humans and these animals. Trekking through dense jungle, spending time in a small elephant village, and getting closer than I ever expected to some of the most magnificent creatures I have ever photographed. This is the behind the scenes story of how that assignment actually happened. What you see in the magazine and what actually went on behind the camera are two very different things. Dispatches is about the real work, not the highlight reel. If you want to understand how a working photographer thinks, moves, and makes pictures on major assignments, this is it.
