Did the prosecutors who got the double-murder conviction against Alex Murdaugh get ambushed today? The State Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Alex Murdaugh's appeal and almost out of the gate, they grilled prosecutor Creighton Waters about the amount of financial evidence allowed in the Murdaugh trial and why he stretched it out for so long when they believe it could have been done in just a few hours. They also got Waters to admit that former Clerk of Court Becky Hill's statements to jurors about Alex Murdaugh before there was a verdict were improper. The financial crimes and allegations of possible jury tampering by the clerk were the two reasons the justices allowed today's hearing. We'll have to wait now for a ruling which only needs a majority 3-2 vote, not a unanimous decision.
