Protocolo de Acogida de un Residente Mayor en una Institución

The admission of an elderly person to an institution represents a significant transition, marked by leaving home, adapting to a new environment, and, in many cases, emotional distress. The loss of independence, distance from loved ones, and feelings of loneliness can generate anxiety and resistance. Therefore, a welcoming protocol should focus on empathetic and personalized support, facilitating the resident's integration through emotional support, socialization, and the creation of a safe and welcoming environment. Students from CESADE wanted to dramatize the welcoming and adaptation protocol to better understand the emotions a new resident may experience, as well as the need for empathetic and approachable professionals who know how to provide a warm and gentle welcome so that the new resident feels safe, supported, and loved.
