Summer Evening Railfanning in Marion, Ohio, at the Marion Union Station. 07/07/2026.

Hello everyone. On Tuesday, July 7th, I took a four-day railfanning trip and kicked off said trip in the evening in Marion, Ohio. This evening in Marion was a pretty solid evening in terms of train action. While there were not any special units, there was plenty of action with a dozen trains in a four-hour period, and better yet, there was action on all three lines here through Marion. There is not a whole lot to say about today's action other than it was a decent time railfanning at Marion Union Station. That being said, here is a list of trains for each line through Marion today: Norfolk Southern Sandusky District: northbound coal train, northbound grain train, manifest 18W, intermodal 271, northbound coal train, manifest 118. CSX Mount Victory Subdivision (CSX Indianapolis Line): manifest M332, local eastbound train, manifest M363. CSX Columbus Subdivision: northbound local train, southbound coal train, manifest L456. Two interesting notes about this evening of action. First, 118 and the southbound CSX coal train had a pretty close train race between the two trains with both coming and passing Marion roughly the same time. Second, this was one of the rare times that CSX and Norfolk Southern had the same number of trains, an uncommon feat in Marion as NS typically has more overall trains than CSX. Thanks for watching today's video. Hope you enjoy it! -N&W475.
