K2 Trek, 2024 SD 480p

In September 2024 six of us friends from America and one friend from Australia trekked into Concordia and K2 Basecamp in the Karakoram Range of northern Pakistan. We used a local outfitter, Asia Mountain Tours (AMT), from Skardu, Bultistan. Nabi Ansari, the CEO of AMT, not only accompanied us, but he took care off all the details including helping us obtain our visas, making all our in-country flight, transportation, and lodging arrangements, and hiring all the porters, horsemen, and cooks. He even met us at the Islamabad International Airport in the middle of the night! All of us were over 65 years of age, but Nabi managed to get us all to Concordia. Four of our group went on to Broad Peak Basecamp, and two make it all the way to K2 Basecamp. Nabi did a remarkable job of enabling each of us to accomplish our individual goals. The crew he hired were not only professional, but incredibly friendly, as was everyone else we met in Pakistan. This was the biggest surprise of the whole trip. We had expected awesome scenery, which of course we found. But the incredible welcome us westerners received was an unexpected surprise. All this at a reasonable price. Everything beyond Islamabad was paid for by Asian Mountain Tours. Nabi even took us to his home village of Kanday, following our trip, where we got to meet his family, visit a local school, and drive to the end of the road at Hushe, where the circuit trek over Gondogoro La, ends.
